    Well done, guys!

David played Game 1 better than you think. By Blue Flaring twice in the early game, he was ensuring that 4 energy would be in the discard for a Fisherman. It wasn’t Ross who baited David into Blue Flaring, but David who baited Ross into keeping all that damage on Zekrom for the return Outrage, knowing that he could win the trade-off given his strong setup.

Looking back, David’s play was not too bad given the situation. However, the best route is simply to lead off with Rayquaza & Deoxys Legend if possible. In addition, attacking with Magnezone at 29:00, leaving a Magnezone with two Energy to get KO’d, was strange.

I agree. Although RDL gets walled by ESL’s 160 HP, Ross didn’t have ESL right away, so RDL would have been the best play. Swinging with multiple Ozone Busters would have left Ross’s board clear of damage, so Ross couldn’t OHKO unless he EQ’d twice and attached two Rainbows, then put all that damage (120) on Zekrom and Outraged for 140. Forcing Ross into that corner while he took 2 prizes a turn would have given David a much quicker victory in Game 1.

Thanks to The Top Cut for producing and Pokemon USA for providing the footage. The camera angle was superb. My only wish is that it could have been published closer to the actual event though I understand the delay. Here’s hoping to more of these productions!!! Thanks Kyle and Crim for the commentary as well!
