PokePuzzle #1: Terrakion Solutions

Alright, so yesterday I posted the Lugia Ex answers to the first PokePuzzle and today I will go into the Terrakion ones. When I made the scenario I was trying to make it impossible for Terrakion to possibly be involved in the solution, but people still found a way to make him work (even if it was his Ex big brother). In order for the Terrakion Ex answers to work, one had to interpret my puzzle a little differently than I intended. People that sent in Terrakion Ex answers either:

Thought that the current turn topdeck was going to be a Skyla, or the top of the deck could be manipulated as much as they wanted due to shuffling trainers.

Now I had intended for the top card of the deck on the first turn to always be Skyla, but I can see how I did not clearly spell this out in the original scenario. I can kind of see how people could think that they were going to draw into the Skyla on the first turn as well. These were not my intentions though and I see I will have to explain things a little better in the next puzzle.

The simplest answer if you assume you can manipulate the top of your deck is:

1. Skyla for Ether.
2. Ether for an Energy and attach it to the active Ditto.
3. Ultra Ball for Terrakion EX and transform the active Ditto.
4. Attach the Blend to Terrakion and Pump Up Smash for 180.

Kyle promotes the benched Darkrai and does 140.

5. Pump Up Smash again for 180 and win the game.

This is a far simpler answer than I had intended for the puzzle. However, most people did not realize they could get Terrakion Ex straight off the bat and win the game. So while all the answers ended with a Terrakion Ex running wild on Kyle’s Darkrai Ex, the initial attacker was usually something else.

For example:

1. Skyla for Ether.
2. Ether for an Energy and attach it to the active Ditto.
3. Ultra Ball, discarding Ultra Ball and Virbank, for Terrakion EX and transform the benched Ditto with Plasma.
4. Level Ball For Solrock and transform the active Ditto.
5. Attach the Plasma to Solrock and use Explosion for 180.

Promote Terrakion Ex. Kyle promotes the benched Darkrai and does 140.

6. Skyla for Ether.
7. Ether for a Fighting Energy and attach it to Terrakion Ex.
8. Attach the Blend to Terrakion Ex and Pump Up Smash for 180 and win the game.

Solrock was by far the most interesting Pokemon that someone had knocking out a Darkrai Ex. This course of action is pretty risky though as Kyle would win if he just had a Pokemon Catcher on his turn. Again, I did not intend for the Ether “loophole” to exist, but props to everyone that sent in a possible solution.

The turnout for the first PokePuzzle was way better than I was expecting so thanks for playing everyone! Feel free to post improvements in the comment section for the next time. Wooooooo!

What about Drifblim? Say, assuming that Pooka is playing Darkrai/lots-of-special-energy?

He had a set discard pile.

Well, Drew did. But I don’t think the post said anything about Kyle’s discard.

I’ll just go ahead and tell you that my deck plays no Special Energy.

Oh, that was Drew? Thought that was Pooka.
