This match showed that this deck CAN be competitive. Being able to attack for 80 for one colorless energy on a basic 100HP pokemon is pretty nice. The fact that you make your opponent take out (in theory) 6 Miltank can be a formidable task to accomplish for them. I think this deck’s worst matchup is Lugia Plasma decks. You could always swap out those bangles and bands for silver mirrors if you knew that you were going to be playing a lot of them. This deck seems like it would have a decent Pyroar match too with Butterfree having 130 HP and a lightning (not fire) weakness.

I can’t say that I really like the one laser. I think trading that out for another Lysandre could be better since you have no pokemon that can attack the bench.

    Entertaining match overall.

This seems like a pretty fun deck. I may build it for my league. Even though it will take longer to set up, I think Miltank/Greninja may be a better combo since 2 Greninja on the bench + Milktank + Silver Bangle takes out 170HP EXs in one shot with 2 Water Shuriken. Plus Greninja + Muscle Band can KO a Pyroar. We shall see though.

If you read Greninja, the attack’s damage isn’t affected by weakness, resistance or any other effects on the pokemon, so no, it doesn’t OHKO with Muscle Band

Ah yes, you are right. Well, again then, 2 Water Shuriken and that 50 damage takes it out Pyroar.

I’ve done some testing of Greninja/Miltank and so far it’s pretty slow (I don’t have Beach), but I’m going to tinker with it some more.

The problem with using Greninja is, as you said, how slow it is. Thats the strength of using Butterfree-the speed. Kyle demonstrated why its probably the best stage 2 line to use. Greninja is interesting and temping because of the ability and cheap attack for a guaranteed 50, but you want miltank swinging for 80+ damage by t1 or 2 and thats just not probably with any other stage two outside of butterfree.

Use Empoleon. Stage 2, high HP, Diving Draw makes up for the long setup and you have an alternative attacker.

Nice deck. Some of the players in my league have a similar deck and it gives them a lot of fun to play with it.

Also I have several questions for the crew here. Not directly linking with this article. Could you guys keep something of a record for nationals. Like highlighting decks, keeping topcut appearances (dont know how to spell that) on nationals categorized and stuff like you did with regionals and states?
Another question is an article I would like to see. Could you interview some high ranked people from North America, Europe and maybe south America? Like people with the 5 best CP in rankings or something like that? Most American players I think would be easy to contact for you guys. And for Europe, Maybe you can ask around on this forum or find them on facebook
And last but not least: I take it there will be a topcut invitational again this year. Are you guys already planning whom are going to be invited?

I built a budget version of this and played it in my local tournament. Went 1-3, but had a BLAST. My only win was against the Malamar deck you posted.

Learned at league that its name is Buttermilk. It fits so perfectly!

Wow. Impressed. For a beginner I love these kinda decks. Its realistic and obtainable on a low bugdet…
