  15. Pikachoo

As expected fire decks flopped. Even with VirGen being played in decent numbers. Aromatisse decks are really strong, because they have an answer to everything. However, it’s hard to play and the slow nature means of the deck causes it to tie many games in swiss.

    1. C-Dub

I think fire decks are not placing well yet because they haven’t had a chance to be refined. It seems like too many people are trying the gimmicky and slow Pyroar/Archeops deck instead of going with a more straight forward and consistent Mewtwo/Pyroar build that literally has an answer to every top tier deck if you include techs (druddigon, spiritomb, ect..) I don’t play the deck myself, but I have played against a few and they are legit. A good pyroar deck also plays 3-4 megaphones to get rid of tools on garby too, which is probably its toughest matchup.

    2. Jeffrey Myny

In Belgium there was actionly only 1 person who played it and it was his first nats, so he placed somewhere after the 30th of the 40 players, because he didn’t know HOW to play it.

  16. Guest

We should make a chart to display the total number of which deck topped a national championships event.

  17. pokewally22

The reason pyroar didn’t do very well is because a lot of the decks in these nationals were geared toward stopping pyroar since people didn’t know how good it could be. Yveltal/Garbodor for instance is a terrible matchup for pyroar because megaphones can only be played on your turn, allowing a tool to be played on garbodor during your opponents turn and essentialy making pyroar useless. Other decks ran techs like raichu or random stage 1’s to stop pyroar easier. Since the highest played deck was yveltal garbodor, pyroar didn’t really have a chance to do well in any of these tournaments. Pyroar can only function well as a rogue deck in this format and will never truly be a top tier deck when people are expecting to face it. It could be very good when it’s not expected to preform well though. Just my opinion.

    1. Jeffrey Myny

I even played Froslass, not just to face pyroar, but also Virgen or Aromatisse/big basics.

  18. MarcinhoCZE

    The Czech Republic Farce:
    1. Martin Janous (Pyroar/Landorus EX/Mewtwo EX/3x Lysandre/2x Pokemon Catcher),
    2. Lukas Vondruska (Yveltal/Darkrai/Garbodor/Bouffalant/Druddigon/Absol/Keldeo EX),
    3. Petr Janous (Pyroar/Landorus EX/Mewtwo EX/3x Lysandre/2x Pokemon Catcher),
    4. Miloslav Posledni (Yveltal/Darkrai/Raichu),
    5. Petr Maly (Plasma Lugia w/ Genesect EX, Landorus promo, etc.),
    6. Kevin Kral (Yveltal/Darkrai/Garbodor),
    7. Vlastimil Bokr (Yveltal/Darkrai/Keldeo EX/Druddigon/Bouffalant),
    8. Klara Mojzisova (VirGen w/ Jirachi EX)

    The winner of the Czech Nationals played only 4 matches in both days!!! 1st BYE, 2nd Eevee ev./Terrakion, 3rd Yveltal/Garbodor, 4th DEAL w/Opponent, 5th Yveltal/Darkrai/Keldeo/Raichu w/o Super Rod, 6th DEAL w/Opponent, T8 DEAL w/Opponent, T4 DEAL w/Opponent, Finals Yveltal/Darkrai/Garbodor/Bouffalant/Druddigon/Absol/Keldeo EX.

    1. Jeffrey Myny

Is Martin Janous than such a player that has that many friends that give him the win?

      1. Jeffrey Myny

Almost forgot to see that the T4 Deal was probably because he was facing his brother.

        1. Martin Janouš

for more detail…1st round BYE, 2nd, 3rd played…4th Team mate with autoloss against me, so we did not play. 5th round play. After 5 round I had 4-0-1 and basically I ID in 6 round, which is normal. In TOP8 I met the same opponent as in 4 round…and in TOP4 faced my Brother….so basically just scoope to me just my Brother because my team mate had autoloss.

          1. Jeffrey Myny

And what is Autoloss and ID, because I don’t understand.

          2. Martin Janouš

Autoloss (can not win agasit some deck never and noway) for her…it was special tested genesect list, but can not deal with my deck…and ID was agaist plasma, however it doesn’t matter beecause in last round when you have 4-0-1 and 4-1-1 is not safe result you would ID (draw, tie) with everyone.

          3. Jeffrey Myny

Weird that one deck has another deck it can never win against. I think every deck can beat every deck in one way or another, that it is going to be though, okay. But impossible? No.

          4. James Brighton

Would you please mind sharing your decklist? I would love to see how to optimally play Mewtwo, Landorus and Pyroar.

  24. A Mãe dos Leitores

Im very curious about this Garchomp/Druddigon deck. Anybody have the decklist?

    1. Jeffrey Myny

If it is the one from Belgium, It was a simple Garchomp/Altaria deck. And it had only 1 loss till top cut, once in top cut, he lost, but didn’t really care about that, he doesn’t want to go to Washington or hasn’t got the time. It actionly is still good enough against almost any game especially fairy and Plasma although only a few tried to play Plasma.

      1. A Mãe dos Leitores

Yeah. I have a Garchomp/Haxorus deck against Plasma and Blastoise/Emboar decks ( and a Terrakyon with retaliate for Garbodor ones. That’s why i didn’t put a Druddigon on it).

I’m heading to U.S. Nationals, but am having trouble deciding; should I run my Yveltal/Garbodor (Similar to the deck Kyle used to take 3rd at the Wisconsin Regionals) or a Yveltal/Garbodor/Raichu (Similar to the Malaysian winner, but without Landorus or Jirachi)?
