Even though he has been playing since Base Set, Kyle did not become known in the Pokémon community until the Nintendo era began. Initially he was known for creating unusual rogue decks, such as the unheard of Exeggutor d/Raichu d deck that took 1st and 2nd place at 2006 Nationals. However, as time has passed, Pooka started to play more standard decks, and he has seen great success as a result. After winning 2009 US Nationals and following it up with a 3rd place finish at 2010 US Nationals, he is regarded as one of the world's best players. Still, he hasn't lost touch with his creative roots; often he will feature a few strange cards in his deck to throw off his opponents, such as Rayquaza LA in his National Championship winning Luxray/Infernape deck. As long as the game exists, Pooka says he will continue to play; he grew up with Pokémon and wants to see it grow into something great.
